Raunchy - Velvet Noise – Extended (CD)

“Velvet Noise” originally saw the light of day in 2001 documenting their trademark hard hitting industrialised, chorus-infested metal. Producer Jacob Hansen went as far as stating “The best album I have ever produced.” Then things took off fast, the band received killer reviews – and before we at Drug[s]/Mighty Music knew of it, Nuclear Blast came knocking on our door, wanting to sign the band and license “Velvet Noise” for the entire world, which they did the following year. We cheered to the boys and follow their dreams of world domination – and even though this didn’t quite happen, Raunchy did leave a mark at the international scene with 2004’s fascinating “Confusion Bay” and continued to do so with 2006’s “Death Pop Romance” (their first for new label, Lifeforce Records, and featuring new vocalist Kasper Thomsen).

Fortunately, Raunchy is still going strong, and they are perhaps stronger than ever. By the end of 2006, Raunchy won 2 awards at the annual Danish Metal Awards – for “best production” and “best cover” and they continue to be one of Denmark’s biggest metal acts. And now Drug[s] proudly extend the legacy with “Velvet Noise Extended” – the re-release of the groundbreaking debut album, including four exclusive bonus tracks:

“NEVER BE” – taken from their last demo tape.

“DECEMBERKLAR” – The band’s only song in their native tongue! A specially written theme song for the December Christmas shows on Danish P3 (national radio) and DR2 (national television). The band were in tough competition with Infernal (the Danish techno pop duo hitting worldwide with “From Paris To Berlin”) in a 2005 live Pop du Hard night from the cool Vega Hall in Amager, a suburb of Copenhagen. All of December 2005 it was impossible to listen to the biggest radio station in Denmark without hearing showing up, “Decemberklar”. Something that has never been done before by a Danish metal act.

“LAST CHRISTMAS” (WHAM COVER VERSION) – While at Antfarm, Raunchy recorded a bonus cover version of the most popular Christmas song in recent history.

“FROM OUT OF NOWHERE” (FAITH NO MORE COVER VERSION) – Exclusive recording from the “Confusion Bay” session, showcasing the band’s dedication to the masters. This also marks the first recording with the band’s original singer Lars Vognstrup who since then has enjoyed great success with Denmark’s no. 1 music export, Junior Senior.
