Blindstone are proud to announce the new album \u201dScars To Remember\u201d. After being the best kept secret within the heavy side of blues rock, as part of the \u201cclosed\u201d blues scene for two decades, the band is now moving to Mighty Music and finally get the recognition they deserve.<\/p>\n
\u201dScars To Remember\u201d is the tenth album from the Danish-based blues power trio, which has its stylistic roots in the late 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s, with inspiration from bands\/artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and others.<\/p>\n
Formed more than two decades ago and having played countless shows in those years, Blindstone hit it hard in the US, due to their sound, and released most of their albums on the American label Grooveyard Records. Despite the long run, the band saw a turning point in their career when, in 2020, they were hired as the backing band for the blues legend Walter Trout, for a series of successful concerts around Denmark. This experience was a factor in inspiring the band to seek a slightly more direct and basic stylistic approach on their new album. The blues influence is particularly obvious in songs such \u201dDown For The Count\u201d, \u201dWaste Your Time\u201d and \u201dWorld Weary Blues\u201d.<\/p>\n
Blindstone has always worn its influences on its sleeves, and \u201dScars To Remember\u201d does indeed contain obvious tips of the hat to influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Trout, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Gales, Jeff Healey, and others. As always with Blindstone, Andersen\u2019s guitar work is a focal point, as is the tight ensemble playing of the band \u2013 for example, the instrumental \u201dThe Fields Of Bethel\u201d comes to mind \u2013 but the band\u2019s lyrical universe has reached new levels of seriousness and depth in the bands new collaboration with Swedish
\nlyricist Peter Svensson, who contributed lyrics to a large part of the album.<\/p>\n
The major concerns of recent years, with a global pandemic and war in Europe, have led the band\u2019s lyrics in a more serious, soul searching direction, as illustrated by songs like \u201dA Scar To Remember\u201d, \u201dDrums Of War\u201d and \u201dDrifting Away\u201d. In other words, there are no stripper poles, hotrodded cars, nor silver dollar coins to be found in the lyrics, this time around. \u201dScars To Remember\u201d is a strong entry in Blindstone\u2019s extensive discography, and should appeal to fans of the band\u2019s previous releases, the aforementioned artists, and to fans of heavy, blues based rock in general.<\/p>\n
